Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sun on Water by Arthur Dove was sold in the American Art auction at Christies in New York in November 2019. The price achieved of USD 137,500.00 (€ 124,784.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Dove achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,802,500.00 (€ 6,912,820.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sun on Water von Arthur Dove wurde im November 2019 in der Auktion American Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 137.500,00 (€ 124.784,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Dove erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset im November 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.802.500,00 (€ 6.912.820,06).
