Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Arthur Dove could be acquired at Christies in New York in May 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller: Art of the Americas, Evening Sale auction, the work Canandaigua Outlet, Oaks Corners changed hands for USD 396,500.00 (€ 339,760.07) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Dove achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset in November 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,802,500.00 (€ 6,912,820.06).
