chiaroscuro woodcuts, printed from two blocks, grey-green and black, on heavy eighteenth century laid paper, each trimmed to the borderline and mounted at sheet corners on a support with Zanetti wash borders, one support with watermark initials AS in a crowned cartouche, the other with part of a proprietary watermark, minor mounting defects at the reverse sheet corners of each support, otherwise in very good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2000 Christies in London held the auction Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints, which included the work St Peter; Saint James Minor by Antonio Maria Zanetti II. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 900.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 705.00 (€ 1,117.51) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Antonio Maria Zanetti II have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Caricature of a man eating a boiled egg with another standing behind in July 2000 with an auction result of GBP 2,820.00 (€ 4,559.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2000 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master, Modern & Contemporary Prints durch, in der auch die Arbeit St Peter; Saint James Minor von Antonio Maria Zanetti II zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 900,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 705,00 (€ 1.117,51) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Antonio Maria Zanetti II auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Caricature of a man eating a boiled egg with another standing behind im Juli 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.820,00 (€ 4.559,90).
