Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Royal Yacht Squadron's three-masted schooner Fantôme in full sail in the Bay of Naples by Antonio de Simone was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 970.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Antonio de Simone have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Royal Thames Yacht Club schooner Marchesa: In Neapolitan waters (illustrated); and In heavy weather in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 4,780.00 (€ 7,171.76).
