Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2007 Christies in London held the auction Important Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Robert Tubbs (1798-1884), in blue coat, white waistcoat and black cravat, fair curling hair; sky background by André Léon Larue. The price achieved of GBP 1,062.50 (€ 1,487.77) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by André Léon Larue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young gentleman called Alexandre L[..., in fur-bordered bottle green coat, open white shirt and red checked scarf loosely knotted, fair hair and moustache|AID716323] in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,690.23).
