Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Young Boy Called Jules, In Cream Coat, White Shirt With Embroidered Collar, Short Brown Hair; Sky Background by André Léon Larue was sold in the IMPORTANT PORTRAIT MINIATURES AND OBJECTS OF VERTU auction at Christies in London in July 2005. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 900.00 (€ 1,305.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by André Léon Larue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A young gentleman called Alexandre L[..., in fur-bordered bottle green coat, open white shirt and red checked scarf loosely knotted, fair hair and moustache|AID716323] in June 2008 with an auction result of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,690.23).
