Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Pieta by Ambera Wellmann was worth USD 120,650.00 (€ 113,243.85) to a buyer in May this year. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session at Phillips in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 40,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ambera Wellmann; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot This Will Always be Beneath Us sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 189,000.00 (€ 176,125.24).
