Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Possibly Colonel Sir John Walkinshaw Of Barrowfield (1676-1780), Half-Length, Wearing A Russet Coloured Coat Over A Pink Waistcoat With An Embroidered Trim by Allan Ramsay. The price achieved of GBP 15,000.00 (€ 17,578.52) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Allan Ramsay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Two Great Scottish Collections: Property from the Forbeses of Pitsligo and the Marquesses of Lothian durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait Of A Gentleman, Possibly Colonel Sir John Walkinshaw Of Barrowfield (1676-1780), Half-Length, Wearing A Russet Coloured Coat Over A Pink Waistcoat With An Embroidered Trim von Allan Ramsay zur Versteigerung kam. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit [Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column|AID70
