This artwork by Allan Ramsay achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2015. In the Old Master & British Paintings auction, the work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a blue cloak and cravat, holding a tricorn sold for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 30,897.69) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Allan Ramsay achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column in July 2008 with an auction result of GBP 421,250.00 (€ 535,202.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 88 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Allan Ramsay erzielte im April 2015 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Paintings wurde die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, in a blue cloak and cravat, holding a tricorn für GBP 22.500,00 (€ 30.897,69) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 12.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Allan Ramsay erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Anne, Lady North (c. 1740-1797), wife of Frederick North, 2nd Baron North, three-quarter-length, in a pink dress and lace shawl with roses at her décolletage, and a lace headdress, by a column im Juli 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 421.250,00 (€ 535.202,87).
