Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2004 Christies in New York held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work Ormonde, a bay racehorse, with Fred Archer up, on Newmarket Heath; and Bendigo, a brown racehorse with Tom Cannon up, on Newmarket Heath by Alfred Wheeler. The price achieved of USD 8,365.00 (€ 6,178.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Wheeler - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Diamond Jubilee with jockey up by a post, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 9,799.00 (€ 15,344.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2004 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Sporting Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ormonde, a bay racehorse, with Fred Archer up, on Newmarket Heath; and Bendigo, a brown racehorse with Tom Cannon up, on Newmarket Heath von Alfred Wheeler zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.365,00 (€ 6.178,90) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Alfred Wheeler mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Diamond Jubilee with jockey up by a post beobachtet, die im November 2002 für GBP 9.799,00 (€ 15.344,73) versteigert wurde.
