Auction result well in line with expectations
In June last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work Steamer, Lifeboat and Lighthouse by Alfred Wallis. The price achieved of GBP 50,700.00 (€ 58,898.98) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alfred Wallis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work St Ives Bay With Godrevy, which sold at auction in May 2012 for GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11).
