When the work St Ives Bay With Godrevy by Alfred Wallis was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2012, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 30,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at GBP 145,250.00 (€ 180,975.11). This high result makes St Ives Bay With Godrevy the most expensive artwork by Alfred Wallis that we have observed at auctions so far.
