Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Pink Sky at Dusk by Alfred R. Mitchell was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,408.00 (€ 1,299.01). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alfred R. Mitchell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset glow in August 2018 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 53,897.90).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Pink Sky at Dusk von Alfred R. Mitchell im August diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.408,00 (€ 1.299,01) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alfred R. Mitchell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sunset glow im August 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 53.897,90).
