Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Alfred F. de Prades could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2001 for an unexpectedly low price. In the SPORTING ART auction, the work Equestrian Portrait of Henry Robert Clifton, on a grey horse, in a landscape, with Clifton Castle, Nottinghamshire, beyond changed hands for GBP 14,100.00 (€ 23,037.45) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred F. de Prades have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Robert the Devil with Jockey up on a racecourse in May 2002 with an auction result of USD 89,625.00 (€ 95,968.52).
