The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,400.00 (€ 12,261.26), 40% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Alfred F. de Prades have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Robert the Devil with Jockey up on a racecourse in May 2002 with an auction result of USD 89,625.00 (€ 95,968.52).
