This artwork by Alfred Arthur Brunel de Neuville achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in August 2007. In the British, Continental & Russian Pictures auction, the work Apples and grapes in a basket, with a pear to the side sold for GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,660.88) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Alfred Arthur Brunel de Neuville have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A basket of apples, pears, oranges, lemons, a bowl of grapes and an earthenware pot on a stone ledge; and Whitecurrants and redcurrants in a basket, a bowl of cherries, asparagus and a brass cooking pot on a draped ledge in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,874.97).
