Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2017 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work A peaceful anchorage in the Mediterranean at dawn; and A French merchantman and other shipping in stormy waters, a fortified town on the shore beyond by Alexandre Jean Noël. The price achieved of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,438.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexandre Jean Noël - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Stormy Mediterranean Coastal Scene With Distressed Fishermen In The Foreground; A Calm Mediterranean Coastal Scene With Fishermen Unloading Their Catch, which sold at auction in April 2008 for GBP 46,100.00 (€ 58,770.99).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.438,03) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben worden.
