Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2012 Sothebys in Toronto held the auction Important Canadian Art, which included the work The Somme River At Picquigny by Alexander Young Jackson. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of CAD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of CAD 88,750.00 (€ 68,687.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Young Jackson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work St. Tite-Des-Caps, which sold at auction in June 2010 for CAD 324,500.00 (€ 248,912.70).
