Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2003 Christies in London held the auction British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures, which included the work The winning hand by Alexander Johnston. The price achieved of GBP 1,762.50 (€ 2,553.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Johnston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sabbath, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,469.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion British, Victorian and Scottish Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The winning hand von Alexander Johnston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.762,50 (€ 2.553,20) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander Johnston mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sabbath beobachtet, die im Juni 2005 für GBP 5.040,00 (€ 7.469,60) versteigert wurde.
