Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Highland Jennie by Alexander Johnston was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2004. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,151.00 (€ 3,219.85) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Johnston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sabbath, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,469.60).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Highland Jennie von Alexander Johnston kam im März 2004 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.151,00 (€ 3.219,85) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander Johnston mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sabbath beobachtet, die im Juni 2005 für GBP 5.040,00 (€ 7.469,60) versteigert wurde.
