A top price for Alexander Johnston - as previously expected
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work Sabbath by Alexander Johnston. The price achieved of GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,469.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Sabbath is the most expensive artwork by Alexander Johnston that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sabbath von Alexander Johnston zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.040,00 (€ 7.469,60) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Sabbath das teuerste Kunstwerk von Alexander Johnston, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
