It achieved a price of GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,757.88), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 65%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Johnston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sabbath, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 5,040.00 (€ 7,469.60).
