In March 2005 Christies in London held the auction The Scottish Sale, which included the work The Return of The Fishing Boat by Alexander Ballingall. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,860.00 (€ 2,708.90), 55% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Ballingall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Broomielaw, Glasgow, (illustrated); and Mussel Banks, Musselburgh, which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,623.55).

Im März 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion The Scottish Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Return of The Fishing Boat von Alexander Ballingall zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.860,00 (€ 2.708,90) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Alexander Ballingall mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Broomielaw, Glasgow, (illustrated); and Mussel Banks, Musselburgh beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für GBP 3.290,00 (€ 5.623,55) versteigert wurde.
