Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Rough weather: Fishing boats unloading the catch by Alexander Ballingall was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2007. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,080.00 (€ 1,589.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Alexander Ballingall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Broomielaw, Glasgow, (illustrated); and Mussel Banks, Musselburgh, which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,623.55).
