Auction result well in line with expectations
In September last year Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work Untitled (Flat with Niche) with Maltese Falcon by Alex Israel. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 70,000.00 – 100,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 75,600.00 (€ 77,276.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Alex Israel have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Sky Backdrop in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,025,000.00 (€ 751,466.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Flat with Niche) with Maltese Falcon von Alex Israel zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 70.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 75.600,00 (€ 77.276,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alex Israel auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Sky Backdrop im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.025.000,00 (€ 751.466,28).
