Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Good King Wenceslas by Alejandro Xul Solar was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 15,000.00 (€ 11,024.55). Admittedly, works by Alejandro Xul Solar have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mundo in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 75,000.00 (€ 71,009.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Good King Wenceslas von Alejandro Xul Solar im November 2013 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 15.000,00 (€ 11.024,55) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Alejandro Xul Solar auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mundo im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 71.009,28).
