Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work El Quijote de la Farola (The Quixote of the Lamppost) by Alberto Korda was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in November last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,500.00 – 2,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,008.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Alberto Korda achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Guerrillero Heroico (Che Guevara), 5/30/1960 in March 2015 with an auction result of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,473.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit El Quijote de la Farola (The Quixote of the Lamppost) von Alberto Korda im November letzten Jahres bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.500,00 – 2.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.008,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Alberto Korda erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Guerrillero Heroico (Che Guevara), 5/30/1960 im März 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.473,89).
