Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Embroidery by Albert Roelofs was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in October last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,260.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Roelofs achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Toekomstdromen in April 2001 with an auction result of NLG 367,000.00 (€ 168,446.13).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Embroidery von Albert Roelofs im Oktober letzten Jahres bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.260,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Albert Roelofs erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Toekomstdromen im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von NLG 367.000,00 (€ 168.446,13).
