In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work A Quiet Day For Fisherfolk (Illustrated); And Tacking Into Shore changed hands for GBP 43.75 (€ 55.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Ernest Markes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wrecked three-master on the sands with the local inhabitants salvaging what they can in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 6,220.87).
