Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Calm Day On The Estuary by Albert Ernest Markes was sold in the MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS auction at Christies in London in June 2005. The price achieved of GBP 312.00 (€ 462.40) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Albert Ernest Markes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A wrecked three-master on the sands with the local inhabitants salvaging what they can in May 2003 with an auction result of GBP 4,465.00 (€ 6,220.87).
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A wrecked three-master on the sands with the local inhabitants salvaging what they can im Mai 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 4.465,00 (€ 6.220,87).
