Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dutch Vessels Anchored Close To The Shore In A Calm by Aernout Smit was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2010. The price achieved of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 28,999.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Aernout Smit - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon, which sold at auction in October 2021 for EUR 62,500.00.

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 28.999,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden.
