Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An entrance to a harbour with moored vessels at a quay by Aernout Smit was sold in the Old Masters & 19th Century Art - including Dutch Impressionism auction at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2016. The price achieved of EUR 5,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Aernout Smit achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 62,500.00.

Die Arbeit An entrance to a harbour with moored vessels at a quay von Aernout Smit wurde im November 2016 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art - including Dutch Impressionism bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 5.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Aernout Smit erzielen.
