Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Mediterranean coast with a Dutch three-master and a fishing boat by Aernout Smit was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of EUR 6,250.00 could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Aernout Smit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 62,500.00.

Die Arbeit A Mediterranean coast with a Dutch three-master and a fishing boat von Aernout Smit kam im Juni 2015 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von EUR 6.250,00 konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Aernout Smit auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 62.500,00.
