Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A Smalschip Closed Hauled In A Stiff Breeze With A Flagship Offshore To The Left And A Jetty To The Right by Aernout Smit was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,724.94). Admittedly, works by Aernout Smit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 62,500.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A Smalschip Closed Hauled In A Stiff Breeze With A Flagship Offshore To The Left And A Jetty To The Right von Aernout Smit im Dezember 2011 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Aernout Smit auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 62.500,00.
