Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2005 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS, which included the work A Naval Engagement Off The Coast of A Harbour Town by Aernout Smit. The price achieved of EUR 9,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Admittedly, works by Aernout Smit have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon in October 2021 with an auction result of EUR 62,500.00.
Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Aernout Smit auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 62.500,00.
