Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Aernout Smit achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in November 2003. In the OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS auction, the work A man-o'-war, possibly Het Wapen van Utrecht, a wijdschip and a spiegelsloep in a stiff breeze sold for EUR 41,825.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 20,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Aernout Smit; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon sold at auction in October 2021 with the realized price of EUR 62,500.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Aernout Smit erzielte im November 2003 bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES AND DRAWINGS wurde die Arbeit A man-o'-war, possibly Het Wapen van Utrecht, a wijdschip and a spiegelsloep in a stiff breeze für EUR 41.825,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 20.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Aernout Smit; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A Dutch three-master firing a salute, together with numerous other ships near a quay to the left, a windmill in the distance and outskirts of towns on the far horizon im Oktober 2021 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 62.500,00.
