Auction result well in line with expectations
In May last year Sothebys in New York held the auction The Now Evening Auction, which included the work The Trip by Adrian Ghenie. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000,000.00 – 6,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,500,000.00 (€ 4,193,458.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adrian Ghenie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pie Fight Interior 12, which sold at auction in May last year for HKD 81,060,000.00 (€ 9,623,561.64).
