Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2014 a collector was able to acquire the work View Of Gibraltar by Adam Willaerts for EUR 13,750.00. This price was achieved in the auction The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection Part II. Dutch and Flemish Drawings from 1500-1900 at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Adam Willaerts achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Embarkation of the Elector Palatine in the 'Prince Royal at Dover, 25 April 1613 in November 2007 with an auction result of EUR 156,250.00.
