Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A Marine With Five Vessels Out To Sea And Another In Port, And With Groups Of Largely Male Figures Engaged In Buying Or Selling Fish Or Other Wares by Adam Willaerts. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 21,582.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Adam Willaerts have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Embarkation of the Elector Palatine in the 'Prince Royal at Dover, 25 April 1613 in November 2007 with an auction result of EUR 156,250.00.
