Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2009 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work Unknown by Adam Buck. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,462.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adam Buck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Naval Officer holding his sword under his right arm, facing right in blue coat with black facings, yellow trousers, frilled cravat and black stock, powdered hair en queue, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 5,975.00 (€ 9,356.93).
