Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction THE IRISH SALE, which included the work Portrait of a lady, full-length, in a landscape by Adam Buck. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 1,912.00 (€ 2,868.70). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Adam Buck - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Naval Officer holding his sword under his right arm, facing right in blue coat with black facings, yellow trousers, frilled cravat and black stock, powdered hair en queue, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 5,975.00 (€ 9,356.93).
