Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Saint Jerome by Abraham Janssens. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 212,500.00 (€ 174,023.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abraham Janssens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Jerome, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 492,500.00 (€ 456,272.00).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Saint Jerome von Abraham Janssens zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 212.500,00 (€ 174.023,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Abraham Janssens mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Saint Jerome beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 492.500,00 (€ 456.272,00) versteigert wurde.
