Auction result well in line with expectations

The work The Judgement Of Midas by Abraham Janssens was sold in the Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale auction at Sothebys in London in July 2011. The price achieved of GBP 115,250.00 (€ 132,266.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abraham Janssens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Saint Jerome, which sold at auction in January 2017 for USD 492,500.00 (€ 456,272.00).

Die Arbeit The Judgement Of Midas von Abraham Janssens wurde im Juli 2011 in der Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 115.250,00 (€ 132.266,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Abraham Janssens mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Saint Jerome beobachtet, die im Januar 2017 für USD 492.500,00 (€ 456.272,00) versteigert wurde.
