This price was achieved in the auction Southeast Asian Modern and Contemporary Art at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 16,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Abdullah Ariff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Hill Spring, 12th Milestone, Penang, which sold at auction in November 2012 for HKD 200,000.00 (€ 19,830.90).
