Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art, which included the work Untitled (Woman With Watermelon) by A. Ramachandran. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,355.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by A. Ramachandran - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Crucifixion); Untitled (after Crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald), which sold at auction in March 2012 for USD 86,500.00 (€ 64,871.76).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary South Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Woman With Watermelon) von A. Ramachandran zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.355,38) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von A. Ramachandran mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Crucifixion); Untitled (after Crucifixion of Mathias Grünewald) beobachtet, die im März 2012 für USD 86.500,00 (€ 64.871,76) versteigert wurde.
