Summer workshop for photography: Klimax Klima

How can photography visualize the effects of climate change and how is it itself part of the problem? As part of the Klimax Klima summer workshop, twelve students are developing new works on the subject. On September 28 at 12 pm, they will present their results in a public discussion at Schloss Neuhardenberg.

To what extent can photography contribute to shedding light on and exploring the global climate crisis and its impact on society? In what way is it itself involved in this crisis as a consumer of resources? These questions serve as the guiding theme of the Summer Workshop for Photography: Klimax Klima. Twelve art students, including Jonas Fischer, Anastasiia Batishcheva and Maximilian Koppernock, will develop new artistic approaches under the supervision of Prof. Armin Linke (Academy of Fine Arts Munich), Prof. Heidi Specker (Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig), Prof. Tobias Zielony (Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg) and Prof. Thomas Weski. The summer workshop will take place from September 23 to 28 at Schloss Neuhardenberg, where students will be able to explore both local and general effects of the climate crisis. On September 28 at 12 pm, they will present their interim results at a public discussion in the Great Hall of Neuhardenberg Castle. Admission is free.

The students will continue to develop their positions until summer 2025 and then present them in an exhibition at Neuhardenberg Castle. The summer workshop is being organized by the Foundation for Photography and Media Art with the Michael Schmidt Archive and the Joachim Herz Foundation in collaboration with the Schloss Neuhardenberg Foundation. It follows on from the Workshop for Photography founded in 1976 by Berlin photographer Michael Schmidt (1945-2014), which accepted participants without any entry requirements. It existed until 1986 and was an influential photography school with a documentary focus.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.

Guido Klumpe

It is in the context of functional architecture in urban spaces that Guido Klumpe finds the motifs that he stages with his camera as the poetry of the profane. His picturesque images unfold an opulent effect with a reduced formal language, showing us the beauty of the moment in the flow of everyday life.
