In February 1967, Sidney B. Felsen convinced Robert Rauschenberg to work together on a project. Rauschenberg wanted to make a portrait of the interior. Felsen didn't know what to do with it. Rauschenberg asked if Felsen had any friends who worked as radiologists. As this was indeed the case, the work Booster (1967) was created shortly afterwards, which shows Rauschenberg's x-rayed body and is one of the most famous prints of the 20th century. Felsen and Rauschenberg would go on to realize over 250 further projects together in the following decades. Felsen (*1924) was co-founder of the Gemini G.E.L. (Graphic Editions Limited) print studio, which has existed since 1966 and is based in Los Angeles, not far from the Getty Museum and the LA County Museum of Art. His photographs of artists at work offer unique insights that can now be seen in an exhibition: First Came a Friendship: Sidney B. Felsen and the Artists at Gemini G.E.L. runs from February 20 through Juli 7.

First bronze sculptures by Mathias Kadolph

Now, for the first time, he has had miniatures cast in bronze in an edition of twelve sculptures each. These convey essential impressions of his formal ideas and open up to new impulses for our perception.
