The Chianciano Biennale, which enjoys a reputation as an important art event, took place in the small Italian municipality of Chianciano Terme from August 3 to 18. Numerous prizes in various categories are awarded at the Biennale. The Hungarian artist Igor Eugen Prokop, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program, won 2nd place in the Abstract Artwork category with his monumental diptych Quantum Entanglement. Prokop, who lives in Visegrád near his native Budapest, explores a complex theme in his 300 x 233 cm work: quantum entanglement describes the state of a system in which several possible states of the subsystems exist simultaneously. In order to understand the overall system, all subsystems existing in parallel must be considered together. This phenomenon cannot exist in classical physics. Prokop relates this aspect of quantum physics to human existence and its inseparable connection to the greater whole. The artist gives us the impetus to rediscover the complexity of the sometimes wondrous world in which we live and to understand our place as human beings in it anew.

In addition to the spiritual journey, Prokop also takes us on a visual one. The permeability and interaction of colors, shapes and textures depicts the complexity of the universe. The boundaries between different forms of existence can no longer be discerned; they appear as a unified form. Prokop chose to depict the work as a diptych in order to symbolize the interweaving of several individual parts into a coherent whole.

The Chianciano Biennale took place for the first time in 2009 with the aim of establishing a new center for contemporary art outside the major cities. Around 150 artists from 40 nations took part in this year's edition. The Biennale is a sister event to the London Art Biennale, which will take place again in 2025.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
