Jerry Moss, nicknamed »The M in A&M Records«, passed away in August of this year. Now, on November 9, some artworks from his collection will go under the hammer. Art lovers from all over the world will then turn their eyes to the auction at Christie's in New York, where top-class works will be up for sale. Portrait of Cristina, My Sister (1928) by Frida Kahlo, for example, is estimated at eight to twelve million US dollars, Fillette en rose (circa 1928-30) by Tamara de Lempicka at seven to ten million. The intimate portraits of family members − sister and daughter respectively − could thus soon be among the most expensive works of their creators.

Other highlights include Nu couché (painted October 13, 1968) by Pablo Picasso with an estimate of ten to 15 million U.S. dollars, Four Multicolored Marilyns (Reversal Series) (1979-86) by Andy Warhol for an estimated three to five million and Mann mit Vogel (1950), a late Max Beckmann for two to three million U.S. dollars. Also up for sale on November 9 is a painting by Claude Monet that could fetch 65 million. This painting is not part of Jerry Moss' collection. We reported recently.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
