Never exhibited Monet to be auctioned
For the 20th Century Evening Sale on November 9, 2023, Christie's has a real highlight: Le bassin aux nymphéas by Claude Monet is expected to fetch $65 million. It has been in the same collection for over 50 years and has never been shown publicly.

Impressionist Claude Monet (1840-1926) is one of the most sought-after painters on the art market. Over the past two years, more than half a dozen works by him fetched a sale price of more than $50 million, with many others exceeding $1 million. In November, another could join the list, and it's a special one: Le bassin aux nymphéas (circa 1917-1919) has never been exhibited publicly, and it is in excellent condition. It was in Monet's estate in 1926 after his death, and since 1972 it has been part of the same private collection. The painting, about one meter by two meters, belongs to the series of Monet's Water Lilies, which he made in his garden in Giverny. These experimental paintings met with mixed reviews from Monet's contemporaries, and subsequent generations, especially the Abstract Expressionists, became increasingly enthusiastic about them.
The 20th Century Evening Sale will be held at Christie's on November 9, 2023 in New York.

Photography beyond its boundaries
The EMOP, the European Month of Photography, has just begun in Berlin. It is the largest biennial festival of photography in Germany. The comprehensive exhibition program includes more than 100 contributions, and numerous other galleries are taking the EMOP as an opportunity to dedicate their current shows to photography. With so much to discover, we would like, of course, to draw your attention to our own exhibition, Grenzgänge, as well as The New You-We-Me by the Verein Berliner Künstler, which includes works by our esteemed artist Corinna Rosteck. Both group shows explore boundaries through the medium of photography, however both in very different ways.
